Pelangi — a practice built around the reality of running a small business
We began with a simple belief: that owners of small businesses deserve thoughtful, patient advisory support — not frameworks built for larger organisations.
Back to HomeWhere Pelangi began
Pelangi was established in Kuala Lumpur by a small group of business practitioners who had spent years working alongside SME owners — and who noticed a recurring pattern. Many of the most capable, hardworking business owners were carrying decisions alone, without a calm and experienced voice to think alongside them.
The name Pelangi — rainbow in Malay — was chosen to reflect what we try to offer: a little more clarity after a difficult period, a gentle broadening of perspective when things feel narrow. Our practice does not aim to be transformative in a dramatic sense. We aim, simply, to be useful.
We work with small businesses across Kuala Lumpur and the wider Klang Valley, and with owners elsewhere in Malaysia via video. Our sessions are unhurried, our written materials are clear, and our advice is always shaped around the owner's own circumstances rather than a standard template.
What we are here to do
Our Mission
To support small business owners in Malaysia with the kind of advisory conversation that large businesses take for granted — accessible, honest, and paced at the owner's rhythm.
Our Values
- Patience — we do not rush to conclusions or push for fast decisions.
- Honesty — we share what we genuinely observe, including things that are hard to hear.
- Respect — your business is your own. We advise; we do not direct.
- Care — we stay interested in how things are going between sessions.

How we work, and what you can expect
Full Confidentiality
Everything discussed in sessions remains strictly private. We do not share client information with any third party, and we are happy to formalise this in writing.
Written Summaries
After every advisory session, a written note is prepared and shared with you. This ensures the thinking carries forward rather than fading after the conversation.
Reliable Scheduling
We respect your time. Sessions start on time, preparation is done before we meet, and rescheduling requests are handled without fuss.
Data Protection
We handle any business information you share with us carefully and in line with Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act 2010. No data is stored longer than needed.
Ongoing Learning
Our advisors keep their knowledge current across SME finance, operations, and the Malaysian regulatory environment, so the guidance we offer reflects actual conditions.
Clear Communication
We do not use jargon when plain words will do. If something is unclear, we say so and take time to explain before moving on.
Advisory that grows with your understanding
Small business in Malaysia operates within a distinct set of circumstances — seasonal cash flows shaped by local holidays, the particular dynamics of family-run operations, the particular challenges of hiring and retaining good people in a competitive urban market. Our advisors have worked within these circumstances for long enough to understand them without requiring explanation.
Our work touches on operations, pricing, customer relationships, financial clarity, and owner decision-making. We do not offer legal or accounting services, but we do help owners understand their position clearly enough to work more effectively with their accountants and other professionals.
Pelangi operates from Plaza Damansara and serves clients across the Klang Valley in person, and owners elsewhere in Malaysia via scheduled video sessions. We keep our client list modest by choice — so that each relationship receives the attention it deserves, and no client feels they are waiting in a queue.
